Family dinner

Corrie had been running around like a madwoman for days. Deet and Juice were coming over for dinner and she wanted it to be perfect, add to that Opie was pissed off because she was back to not touching him and it had been hell. She warmed her feet by the fire and absent mindedly rubbed her round belly. They hadn't even started the nursery. What kind of parents were they going to be. She sighed. She was tired and sore. She wiggled her toes in the warmth.

Opie just got off the phone with Dita, asking for her advice on how to get Corrie out of the house for a few hours. Thankfully, Dita came to the rescue. A few minutes had passed since their secret phone call, then the phone rang. It was Dita begging her sister to meet her at the club to crunch numbers on a recent gun sale.

Corrie hung up her phone and went to find Opie upstairs in one of the empty spare bedrooms in the rambling home. For once, he didn't have on his leather. She longed to embrace him, but knew she couldn't. She sighed and knocked on the door frame.

"I have ta go. Be here when I get home?"

Opie nodded, pretending to keep his focus on an old dresser that he was replacing drawer knobs on, "Yeah,"

Depressed by him not trying to hug her or kiss her corrie turned and left.


When she arrived at the club she went staright in to find dita sitting at the bar talking to Lyla. Inwardly, she cringed; she really hated Lyla. She wondered what the porn star saw when she looked at her, carrying Opie's child, after she refused to do just that.

Dita was laughing at something Lyla had said when her sister came up, "Oh! Hey! Yeah...I need some help looking over these numbers...seems a bit off from last month." She pushed her laptop over to her sister, "How are you doing?"

Corrie glared at Lyla, "I'd be better if Aisling would be less like her father and hold still more."

She sat down on the opposite side off Dita and pulled the laptop over, "What seems to be off? How are you doing?"

Dita shrugged, pushing her cateye glasses up her nose, "Okay, tired and pukey everyday. Boobs fucking hurt. Other than that, I'm good. Lyla and I just got back from going through all her kids old baby things. Got a ton of cute stuff."

Lyla piped up, "We still have plenty if you want to look through it, Corrie."

She gritted her teeth in an effort to keep the peace for her sister, "No thanks, we;ve got a handle on it."

Really, she wouldn't touch her shit with a ten foot pole.

"It just looks like you've got the number of the guns in the shipment of. probably just a slip of the finger while typin. It happens."

She pointed to the discrepancy.

She sighed, not really wanting to say this in front of Lyla, but needing to talk about it, "Ope's pissed at me."

Dita sighed, giving her sister a half-smile, "Yeah, I know. He was griping about it when he was helping Juice drop the engine for the panhead yesterday. Love Ope to pieces, but it took everything not to lay him out on our garage floor."

She raised an eyebrow, "What did he say?"

She didn't miss the smug look on Lyla's face.

Dita bit her lip, forcing a laugh, "Oh Corr, it was nothing...come on, let's go get a pumpkin pie blizzard...I'm fucking starving..."

She crossed her arms, "Bullshite, what did he say?"

Dita groaned, "It was nothing...he was pissed off that you were hot and cold. He said that...well, he said you were fucked in the head and that he wished you weren't such a little psycho."

Her heart constricted in her chest to the point that she had to put her head down on the bar for a minute. She was humiliated in front of Lyla and pissed at Opie. She stood and walked out without so much as saying goodbye, hellbent on going home and reaming Opie.



When she got home she started screaming Opie's name through the house.

Opie was listening to STP No. 4 on full blast, not hearing her screams. He had finished the nursery in such a short time, thanks to Phil and Juice coming by to help him paint the room a nice pale lavendar color and putting the furniture together. He finished making up the crib, smiling softly as he thought about the little girl that would be sleeping in it soon.

Following the sound of the music she stomped through th house feeling dizzy from the exertion. When she finally found the room he was in she was oblivious to everything but him. She was crying because she was so damn angry.


"If I'm such a fucked up little psycho why in he hell do you stay?"

Opie nearly dropped the maternity photo of him and Corrie together that he had custom framed and was about to hang above the crib. He spun around and looked at her, shock written plainly on his face, "W-what? What the hell are you talking about?"

"You wish I wasn't such a fucked up little psycho. Did you really think you could say that in front pf my sister and no one tell me? You know, the one thing above everything I loved about you was that you accepted me, guess I was just delusional. All I'll ever be to anyone is a fucking broken psycho."

She squeezed her eyes shut.

Opie groaned, "Christ, she took it the wrong way! She came in on the tail fucking end of the conversation!"

"How in the hell do you take that the wrong fucking way Opie?" she plopped on the floor, becoming exhausted, "Explain that shit to me."

Opie paced the room, "Alright...I was pissed about this shit...where you are hot and cold with me and that I never know when I can touch you without you going nuts...so I was ranting to Juice. Dita came in at the tail end...when I said that I still loved you...even though you are a little psycho...that you were my little psycho."

Unsure how to feel about that she looked at him, "I'm your little psycho. What the fuck Opie."

She tried to get up off the floor, but was effectively stuck. While she was down there she notice that the room was a lavender color and there was furniture in it; including the round crib she'd bought. All the art, bedding, colors she had wanted were in here. Overwhelmed she looked up at him.

"Ope....."

Opie had turned his back to her, looking out the window, "Surprise..."

She grunted as she hauled herself up off the floor. Knowing how desperately he needed it, she walked up behind him and slid her arms, trembling though they were, around his waist.

"It's just the way I dreamed it would be. Aisling is a lucky girl to have a Da who loves her like you do."
