AU - Backdraft

"It was insane. It was like every time we put one out another started," he sighed and ran his hands over his short hair,"I think we might have to force Ope to take a leave, he was so out of it he almost fell through the floor....on the foirth floor," his shoulders slumped, he knew how much the jon meant to the man, "it was a long ass day and I am beyond happy to be back home with you," his smile returned.

He kissed her lips and stroked her hair.

"How was your day?"

Dita sighed, resting her hands on top of his as he rubbed her stomach, "Okay...just tired. Mom and Dad took Trini out for dinner and to see Wicked. I got some stuff caught up, but I still have a lot to do."

"What do you need done?" he sat his backpack on the table, "I'm your man."

He cocked his head to one side and smiled crookedly.

Dita flushed at his smile, "Laundry...lots. I can't put clothes in the washer or dryer because my belly and bathroom duty."

"I can handle that. Hell, I am the one who dirties the most clothes in the house anyway," he chuckled, "I'm on it."

He went into their laundry room and threw a load in the washing machine. As that load washed he went to the bathroom and cleaned the tub, toilet, sink, mirror, swept the floor, mopped the floor, took out the trash, and tidy up. As soon as he was done with that he switched over the laundry and started another load.

He went to the office to find Dita on her computer, "Anything else?"

Dita smiled at him and shook her head, "No, I think I may go lay down though. I pulled up the listings if you want to look."

"Yea, ok," he sat down in front of the computer.

He browsed through and made some calls. Making an appointment for that afternoon, and then one each day for the next three days. The excitement was intense; he couldn't wait to buy a home and get it ready for the boys. He sat back in his chair and smiled goofily, "The boys," he said quietly to himself shaking his head.

Dita curled up in their bedroom and drifted off to sleep while watching, "Cinderella". When was tired or stressed, she watched Disney movies. This one happened to be her favorite; Juice bought it for her birthday when they first started dating.

He stood and made his way back to the laundry room. He folded a load and then switched it all over again, he was kind of proud of the dent he was making in the laundry. Man would the guys laugh at him or that, he thought. After putting away Trini's clothes and made his way to his own bedroom. Cinderella was on the TV, he smiled and turned it off. Setting the clothes on their dresser, he pulled the covers up over his wife and smiled.

Quietly he started putting away their clothes.

Dita woke up an hour later to the babies fighting for space in her womb. She ran her hand down her belly, "You two aren't even born yet and already you are fighting." She chuckled softly as she sat up and stretched.

Juice had just gotten off the phone with Opie. ever since the blow up at the hospital he had called daily to let him or Dee know how Corrie was doing. During their chat he had mentioned buying a house. To his utter surprise Opie had offered to buy them a house in Manhattan so they could be close after the marrow transplant. he told the man he'd talk to his wife, but he was just completely shocked by it.

wondering if she was awake he headed toward the bedroom. Just as he entered she was stretching and smiling.

"Opie just called," he was so much in shock he was totally blunt, "he wants to buy us a house in Manhattan, near him, so we can be close after the marrow transplant."

Dita blinked at him, "Um...wow....that is an extravagant gift..."

He sat down on the bed beside her, "I know, what do we do? He was pretty insistent about it. "

Dita shook her head, "I don't know..."

He shook his head, " He made some excellent points. He does have more money than god. He is going to need help. Plus we would be in one of the best areas in town. We could have a yard. Can you imagine, a yard big enough for a treehouse or a pool or dogs," he was starting to feel excited, "It's not like he waves his money around, he hates for people to know. He must really want to do this. Our house would be ours, completely. Financially it would set us free."

Dita sighed, never one to like taking help. She would be close to her sister and work. She finally nodded her head, "Okay."

"Yea? Really?" he was hopeful, "I know you hate help, but he really wants to do this. Manhattan, babe, we could live in Manhattan!"

Dita smiled, " Do you think it'll be possible to move before the boys are born?"

"According to Ope he already made an offer on a house down the street from his. He said it has five bedrooms, two offices, three bathrooms, it's huge, Dee."

His smile spread, he was truly happy.

Dita looked awe struck, "Wow...I hope we like it..." She looked like a deer in headlights; too stunned for words.

"He gave me the adress, we can look it up before we decide," he reassured her.

"Can we go now?"

He beamed at her, "yes."

About thirty minutes later, Dita and Juice were standing outside the house on E 101 St with the Realtor that happened to be a close friend of Opie's.

Peter Jenks smiled at the couple as he led them inside, "Opie thought this would be a perfect fit for your family. It's a couple blocks away from them. The home was built in 1832: nine bedrooms and six baths. Huge garage and converted basement. Hardwood throughout and upgrades in plumbing and electrical. "

He showed them throughout the house: floor by floor then the big backyard with a small pool, deck, and treehouse. The Realtor finally left them in the kitchen to talk things over.

Dita looked around the house, clearly in love with it. It needed work, but it felt like home. She could see the house suiting their growing family.

Juice had walked through the house totally in awe. He loved the place. It was so different from anything he'd ever known growing up in apartments. He could tell by Dita's face she was already decorating the place. Opie had picked well. He loved the hardwood and the homey feel. It was definitely a good fit.

"Well?" he prodded.
