Gangland: Carlos and Dee Dee

Kissing the palm of her hand he squeezed his eyes shut and tried to sleep.

Dee Dee stayed close to him; watching him sleep the entire time.

When he woke all he wanted was a glass of water. After Mrs. Cardeli brought it to him he drank it down and then went back to sleep.

Dee Dee eventually drifted off to sleep; feeling more worn out and guilt ridden than ever before.

Finally, he woke. He was sore and stuff, but mending. Grabbing the cane Bobby left for him he made his way to the bathroom.

Dee Dee woke to Archie and Annette pouncing her in the bed; their slight destraction cheering her up. She gently pet them as they sniffed at her belly as usual. She heard her husband making his way around the bathroom with the cane in tow and immediately the guilt washed over her again.

He smiled softly as he turned on the shower. The hot water made hine feel more human. He had to lean against the wall for balance, but he was alive and he couldn't ask for more.

Dee Dee padded downstairs to make her husband some breakfast. Mrs. Cardeli had church that morning and Bobby was out doing "the Lord's work" as he jokingly referred to his hits. Dee Dee made all of Carlos' favorites.

Carlos slowly made his way down the stairs. It was the first tine in days that he had been fully dressed. When the scent of the food hit him he felt the full forcenof his hunger.
"That smells good," he purred.

Dee Dee smiled softly, kissing him gently, "Why don't you go sit in your favorite chair. I'll bring your tray in to you."

He nodded and slowly made his way out to the chair. After he had lowered himself into it he grabbed the paper on the table and began to read.

Dee Dee was bringing his tray a few minutes later. She moved a small table in front of the chair and prepped the food, handing him his utensils. She gently kissed his cheek, "Do you need anything else? I'm going to go take a bath."

"No, thank you," he grinned.

Digging into the food he thought about the fact that Trevor was finally gone. He could have done without the pain of being shot, but at least his wife was now safe.

Dee Dee took a warm bath and slipped into one of her new maternity dresses. She opted to skip the stockings and heels since it was just them. She came down a few minutes later carrying Archie and Annette with her.

"You know, you're going to have to stop carrying the dogs down the stairs at some point. It's not safe," he called from his chair.

Dee Dee frowned, "They are too little to make it downstairs by themselves, Carlos."

"You could fall. Maybe they should stay down here until after the baby. I'm not trying to be an ass, but they can't come first anymore."

Dee Dee pouted, but she knew he was right. She set the dogs down on their beds and sat next to her husband.

He put his hand one hers, "Maybe we can build a little ramp for them or something."

Dee Dee softly smiled and nodded, "Okay. How are you feeling?"

"I'm sore, but ok," he smiled.

He loved just sitting here. After all that had happened he learned to take things more seriously.

Dee Dee gently kissed his hand, "You saved my life."

"Trevor is finally gone and that is all that matters," he frowned some.

Dee Dee saw the frown, "D-do you blame me?"

He rubbed his leg, "No, of course not!"
