A moth to a flame: Juice and Dita

Looking at Dee he realized how lucky he was, she looked ravishing.

"Dee, you look amazing," she smiled.

They went to Delmonico's and had a delicious dinner. The atmosphere ws amazing and they couldn't stop holding hands or touching. It was an amazing night. As they walked out, he turned to her and smiled.

"I have a surprise for you," he pulled her in the direction they needed to go.

They went to hhis tattoo artist and he got the tattoo he had designed, dedicated to Dee.

Dita looked at him quizically and then saw the design on the tracing paper. It was one of the little sayings he would say to her: "If you are a bird, I'm a bird."

She felt tears sting her eyes as she looked at the design, "Oh...that is beautiful..."

He grabbed her hand, kissing it, "This is how I am showing you I am not going anywhere. I am yours and your alone."

Dita kissed his hair gently before looking up at the tattoo artist, "I'd like to get the same thing too."

His heart swelled with pride, "Really?"

Dita nodded, kissing his lips, "I'm in this for forever. You may have to baby me through it...first one."

He sat beside her and held her hand, kissing her fingers tenderly. She did well, hardly flinching and holding eye contact with him. He was so proud.

"I love you," he whispered.

Dita smiled at him softly, "Love you more."

As they walked him, hand in hand, he knew his life could never get any better. He smiled at her and thought about the children they might have some day.

Seven Months Later
June 12th

The day had finally arrived. Dita and Juice were going to get married. Juice had graduated and was promoted to first lieutenant. She was very proud of him. She was in her last year of college and was a student teacher.

In the past seven months, her family had moved to NY after her father had been promoted to Chief of the NYPD. It seemed like everything was working out to her advantage.

They planned the wedding quickly, but efficiently. They decided to get married at Grace Church, an Episcopal church they both attended since they started dating. Per custom, they had to complete a pre-marital counseling before they could officially get married. With Dita's class and student teaching and Juice's crazy schedule at the firehouse, it was difficult but they accomplished it. They managed to finalize the wedding ceremony, decor, reception, and their honeymoon in Pueto Rico.

Gemma smiled at her daughter as she fixed her veil in the dressing room. Sure, the marriage was a surprise to the entire family. They had only been together for a short time; but Gemma knew they were in love and even her husband began to love the young man that won over his little girl.

Dita looked at herself in the mirror, surprised how pretty she looked. She was nervous all morning. She sipped a glass of champaign and orange juice to calm her nerves. Her mother kissed her cheek. "I think you are all ready, Dee Dee. So grown up."

She blushed as she thanked her mother. She smiled over at her sister, who was helping Juice's niece Charlotte with the pink rose petals in the basket she was holding. Just then, her father came in dressed in his dress blues from the department. He went over and kissed Dee on the forehead, "You look lovely, sweetie. Sure you don't wanna back out?"

Dita lightly thumped him in the stomach, giving him a warning look. He chuckled, "We have to line up now."

The march went by in a daze. first their mothers, then Corrie led the bridesmaids (Juice's sisters and a couple of Dee's friends) down the aisle, then Charlotte who tossed the rose petals up in the air in glee, then at last, her and her Pop. She held onto his arm tightly as she walked down the aisle, blowing out a nervous breath her and there. Her eves finally met Juice's and she felt her heart flutter at the sight of him in his uniform. He had just ordered it and it came a few weeks ago. She had not seen it until now. She smiled softly at him through her veil, feeling a bit teary eyed as she did so.

Juice shifted from side to side as he watched the Bridesmaids come down the aisle. It seemed like everyone was movingin slow motion and it was aggravating him to no end. The unfamiliar starchiness of his new dress uniform scratched at his neck, but when dita came down the aisle, nothing else registered. Her dress was beautiful, he loved the bustle . They had spent so much time on this that it hardly seemed real to him anymore. He was glad that Tig no longer seemed to want to shiv him and he was excited to start his new job at Ladder 16.
As he took Dita's hand, his heart leapt in his chest, he could see his future in her tiny hands. Blowing out a breath, he faced the officiant.

Dita's hands shook lightly as they listened to the officiant went through the ceremony. They finally got to the vows and the officiant led them both through the exchange of rings. She smiled through her tears as they finished the sermon. The moment finally came where they were introduced as husband and wife.

He couldn't help the broad smile plastered on his face as the walked down the aisle passed their family and friends. They shook hands and accepted hugs in the reception line, then suffered through pictures. Finally, they were announced at the reception.

Their reception was incredible thanks to both their moms. They went through the standards: the introduction as a married couple, the dinner, the dance as husband and wife, the dance with Dee and her father, the bouquet and garter toss, etc.

Dee was excited to get on their flight to Puerto Rico and enjoy the warm sun for a change. Two weeks full of beaches and peace. Her sister had shopped with her for new swimwear and insisted on Dita getting bikinis despite her questioning.

She got dressed quickly and waited patiently for her husband in the hall outside his dressing room.

When they landed in Puerto Rico, Juice was excited to be around the salty sea air. The hotel they had chosen had individual houses on the beach. They made their way to their's and found that the porch was hidden by vegetation making it extremely private and it had a hammock for relaxing. It was the most decadent thing he'd ever experience. Picking her up and carrying her over the threshold, he smiled and kissed her.

Dita giggled, kissing him back, "It's beautiful here."

He inhaled deeply, "It is."

He sat her down and took their bags to the bedroom. When he came back out he was already in his swimming trunks.

"Up for a swim?"

Dita had shyly stepped out from behind a privacy divider wearing her first two piece, the orange one, since she was four. She was nervous that she looked terrible.

His jaw went slack for a moment, "God, you look, well, amazing."

He took her hand and twirled her in a circle.

Dita blushed leaning in for a kiss, "Are you bullshitting me, Ortiz?"

He smiled and spoke against her lips, "I would never bullshit you."

Dita chuckled kissing him back slowly, "I love you."

He led her out onto their private section of beach. The water was warm as they waded in. He loved it here.

Dita spent most of the day swimming or lying around on the warm beach; soaking up the sun while sketching. At one point, she drifted off to sleep.

He scooped Dita's sleeping form.up and put her on the hammock. Making his way back out to the beach to pick uo her things, he smiled. As he flipped through her sketches he found one of him he was in awe of it. Once he had placed her thimgs inside and covered het with a blanke he showered and dressed. He ordered dinner then grabbed a book and sat out on the porch to read.
