A moth to a flame: Juice and Dita

Dita sighed, crawling under the covers. She looked at her husband and softly smiled, "I love you."

A mischievous smile spread over his face, "Yea, I'm pretty terrific."

Dita rolled her eyes, laughing some.

He snugled close and went to sleep.

A couple weeks later, Dita struggled in aggregation with her dress skirt. Today was the first trial. She was nervous and by that point annoyed with the entire process.

Juice dressed Trini and waited for Dee in the living room. They had given her a walking cast by that point so she had more freedom.

Dita came out a few minutes later, buttoning up her suit jacket. She blew out a nervous breath. "Let's get this over with."

Juice blew out a breath and followed her to the SUV. He drove them to the courthouse, palms sweating, dropping Dita off at the front. When he found her inside he held the baby and stood close to her.

The trial began with Opie's testimony then some of the officers an witnesses at the scene that day. The defendant's attorney was brutal; trying to pin blame on a distracted teacher, wife, and mother. Dita was distraught by the time she got off the stand. She was made to feel like she asked for this to happen.

Juice couldn't stand how they were treating his wife. Tig had to hold him back more than once. He couldn't wait for this to be over.

During a recess, Dita sat quietly with her husband and daughter, wondering if they were wasting their time. She held Trini close as she recounted the day.

"You're doing the right thing," he put an arm around her. The worry was written all over her face.

Dita frowned, cuddling Trini close, "He's going to get away with it, I know it."

A chill crept over him as he thought of the next family this man would violate.
"No, he won't."

Dita sighed, kissing Trini's hair softly. "I hope you are right..."

I know I am," he tried to convince himself.
