AU Backdarft corrie

Opie looked at her in surprise, choking on a swallow of lemonade, "W-what? Like now?"

She laughed, "I'm just kidding, Ope."

Laying a hand on his knee, she scooted between his legs and leaned against him.

Opie smirked, "You about gave me a heartattack. Not funny, Winston."

She looked at the old man, "Piney, you got this?"

she wanted to go for a walk or something with her husband.

Piney smiled, "Always, kid."

She stood and offered her hand to Ope, "Come on, I need to private time with the husband."

Opie wrapped an arm around her waist as they walked, "Any regrets?"

"Of course not,"she smiled.

They walked for a while before coming upon an small restaurant that Corrie loved. She was absolutely starving, she looked to her husband.

"I'm hungry can we stop?"

Opie smiled, "I was hoping you'd ask. I was craving their food for the past three days."

Corrie enjoyed the quiet meal with her husband. It had been a very long time since they had done something so romantic. Sometimes Corrie wondered if Opie was straying somewhere. He obviously loved her, but they hadn't been close since the fire. It depressed her.

Opie reached over, taking her hand in his, "Penny for your thoughts?"

Shyly, she spoke, "Have you ever thought about leaving me?"

Opie looked at her, stunned. What would make her think that? He shook his head, " No...god no. Why would you ask me that?"

She flushed, "Since the fire, you've been different. It's like we aren't close anymore. I know you love me, but..."

Opie sighed, looking at her hands, playing with her wedding ring. "I don't know...it's like like I'm afraid...afraid I'd break you."

She looked away, "I feel like you have. I miss you. "

She watched his fingers play with her rings, his hands scarred in places from fires past. These were the hands she loved.

Opie brought her hands to his lips, kissing them tenderly, "why don't we go away for a couple days? Just us? Dee said she'd love to watch them for us a few days."

"Yea? Where would we go?" she smiled.

From time to time the fact that they owned a private jet and had all this money just snuck up on her.

Opie thought and shrugged, "Greece? Italy? Anywhere your heart desires." He gently kissed her knuckles

She smiled crookedly, "I could get used to you like this, you know. All suave playboy type."

She reached across the table and gently touched one of the deep pink scars on his face. They would always serve as a reminder that he was so much more than a man with means.

"Ok, lets go to Italy. I've always wanted to see it."

Opie smiled excitedly, "Really? Great! I'll start the travel arrangements. Oh baby, Italy is amazing."

She smiled and caressed his cheek, "I love to see you like this. You think Piney will be ok alone?"

Opie shrugged, "We'll, Dee can always babysit him too..." A smirk played on his lips.

"Oh, yea, I don't see that going well," Corrie laughed.

She was stuffed and ready to go home.

Opie smiled, stopping her to kiss her gently, "I love you. Only you."

They walked home and started making arrangements for their trip. Opie had suggested Rome, but Corrie wanted to go to Venice, so Opie caved and agreed. The day of the trip she began worrying about leaving the babies.
"They'll be ok, right?"

Opie chuckled, kissing her forehead as he got the last of his bags ready, "Babe, they will be fine. I promise you that. Dee and J know what they are doing."
