A moth to a flame: Juice and Dita

Dita smiled, kissing one of Trini's tiny hands. "I love her too...she is worth every bit of pain, every tear...Oh J, can you believe this only happened because we fell in love? It sounds silly, but it's true. She is here because you didn't give up on me when I left..."

He smiled and kissed her cheek, "She is worth it all. Everything. Thank you."

Dita kissed his lips, "No...thank you...I love you so much. You gave me the best gift I could ever ask for."

Juice snuggled close to her as they held their daughter together. He thought hi heart might burst with love.

Three Months Later

Dita finished feeding Trinity before grabbing her bag and lesson plans for class. She had been back in the classroom for two months and was excited to be back on track. Kissing her mom's cheek, she thanked her for watching Trini while Juice and her were at work. Her mom adored the little girl; offering to babysit for them constantly. Dita gently held Trini's hand, kissing it over and over.

"Now you be a good little girl from Gramma Gemma. Daddy will pick you up this afternoon. I love you."

She reluctantly rushed out the door of her parents' home and jumped in her car. She was running a couple minutes late, but nothing too serious. She was a block away from the school. Her light had turned green and she went forward. Halfway through the intersection, a pickup truck slammed hard into her small honda civic, T-boning it hard causing it to spin out. The driver dropped his cell phone from his ear and jumped out of the car, frantic and screaming out that it was an accident; he didn't see the red light.

Juice was just arriving at work when he heard they call go out. There was a pretty bad accident and they were headed out. He geared up and hoped onto the fire truck with Ope. They held on as the flew through the streets. When they arrived he recognized the honda and fear gripped him as he made his way to the scene. When he saw the paramedics pulling the dark-haired woman out of the car he started screaming, "That's my wife!"

Opie saw Dita's bloodied clothes and head and pushed Juice back toward the truck. "You can't be here. Someone get him back to the station and then to the hospital, now!"

He fought against them, "No, let me fucking go! That is my WIFE!"

He broke free and rain to the paramedics. She was pale and bloody. He was afraid she was dead, but he knew they would have just covered her with a sheet if that wasthe case, He sobbed as Opie pulled him back.

Opie pushed him into the chief's dispatch cruiser, getting in with him. "She'll be fine. Calm down...she'll make it."

He was distraught. Henweptbas they.followed the ambulance.

The hours passed slowly as Opie paced the hospital waiting room. Opie and the chief called their families as Juice waited for word. Opie sat down next to Juice and sighed, "Need to talk?"

Juice shook his head. he just wanted to hear his wife was ok. He put his head in his hands and cried. Gemma and Tig came into the waiting room Gemma immediately fell on Juice.

"She'll be alright, baby. Hush. We called Corrie, she'll be on the next flight out."

Juice sank into Gemma like she was his own mother. He saw opie getting up to leave and clamped his hand down on his arm. He needed one of his brothers.

At last, a doctor came out and went over to Juice and Dita's parents, "Mrs. Ortiz is okay, but has a long road ahead of her. She has some fractured ribs, a concussion and a broken leg. She is incredibly lucky to be alive. She needs to stay here a couple days to recover."

Juice let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding.

"Oh thank god, when can we see her?"

The doctor nodded,"She is resting, so one person at a time."p

Juice stood and made his way to the room. She was banged up, tubes coming from everywhere. He sat beside her bed, putting his forehead on her hand, and wept.



The flight from Chicago to New York was blessedly short. Corrie rushed to the hospital, her suitcase in tow as she walked into the waiting room.

Dita felt pressure on her hand and slowly came to, "...J..."

Opie saw Dita's sister and was immediately taken by her since the first time they met at Trinity's baby shower. He watched as Tregar talked to his daughter.

"Oh!," he wiped his tears, "You're awake, thank god. Thank god. Baby, when we came up to the accident on a call, I thought...."

He looked away and began to sob again.





Corrie listened to her Dad tell her what had happened. By the end of the list of damages to her sister, she was sitting with her head against her mother's shoulder, her father's arm around her. She'd always been very close to her father. As always, Jax was with the kids.

"Daddy, will they arrest the guy who did this?"

Dita held his hand, "What happened? I was going to work..."


Tig sighed, shaking his head, "He was cited. Dita and Juice need to decide whether or not to press charges."

He kissed her fingers, "A man on a cell phone ran a red light and t-boned you."

Dita blinked, not remembering if Trini was I the car or not, "Oh god...Trini...?"

"She was with Gemma. She's fine," he rub her hand with his.cheek.



Corrie was pacing.in front of her parent, tapping her fingers on her hips.

"Cor, sit. You're drivin me nuts," her father scolded.

Dita felt relief wash over, tears stinging her eyes, "Oh...oh thank god..."

He looked her over again, she was whole, but she was beat up. He ran his hand down her cheek. He was just glad she was alic=ve. As the scene played through his head again, his shoulders slumped.

"Your parents are here. And your sister flew in from Chicago."

She gently stroked his cheek, "Send Corrie in first. She must be a mess."
